Questions our Residential/Commercial Contracting Work

We have been assisting the West Texas area with all things relating to metal roofing, metal buildings, and barndominiums. We get asked a lot of questions regarding our work. Some of the most frequently asked questions are below. Take a look to see if something you're concerned about can be answered below!
Q: What is a barndominium?
A: Originally, a barndominium was described as a barn that had been transformed into a place to live. However, a barndominium is now known more commonly as a simplistic metal building that can be used in a variety of ways.

Q: What can a barndominium be used for?
A: A barndominium can be used as in the same manner as a traditional building. It can be used as a place to live, a place to store things such as cars or boats, or as a retail area. A barndominium can be almost anything you want it to be.

Q: What are the benefits of a barndominium?
A: Barndominiums are a great alternative to traditional housing if you're looking to build a new home. Barndominiums are energy efficient as metal is better at keeping that hot West Texas air out during the summer. Unlike the materials used on regular buildings and roofs, metal roofs don't absorb heat. In fact, metal reflects the heat, leaving the barndominium naturally cooler, requiring less from an air conditioning unit. Barndominiums are also easier to maintain as metal is generally more durable than materials used in traditional housing.

Q: What are the benefits of metal roofing?
A: Just like a barndominium, a metal roof is energy efficient for the exact same reason. Metal roofing is also a great defender of all types of weather. Rain rolls off of metal due to the sleek exterior, and it would take devastating wind gusts to damage such a roof. Because of this, maintenance checks are less frequent and can help save you money.

Q: How long will a metal roof last me?
A: If you hire the proper contractor (like Klassen's Metal Construction), a metal roof can last for decades. According to the national insurance company State Farm, a metal roof can last anywhere from 40-70 years whereas traditional asphalt roofs may only last for 12-20 years.

Q: Why should I have the siding redone on my home?
A: A new siding installation will enhance the curb appeal of your home, reduce maintenance & upkeep of the exterior of your home, increase the value of your home, & more! Our siding installation contractors will get the job done efficiently so that you can enjoy the new look of your home.

Q: What kinds of exterior siding are there?
A: If you have never had to pick siding for your home before, you may not know how many different types there are. The most popular types of siding for your next siding installation are below:
  • Vinyl Siding
  • Wood Siding
  • Insulated Siding
  • Fiber Cement Siding
  • Cedar Shake Siding
Q: Why should I have energy efficient windows installed in my home?
A: There are many benefits to energy efficient windows that normal windows do not have. For starters, energy efficient windows will increase your energy savings. Energy efficient windows improve your HVACs efficiency by preventing heat loss. Another great benefit that people do not always think about is reduced damage to furniture. Your standard windows let UV rays and sunlight in your home which can be great for lighting a room, but not as great for the condition of your furniture. Energy efficient windows have proper UV coatings that can reduce harmful ultraviolet rays that damage furnishings.

Q: What types of improvements can be made in a kitchen remodel?
A: Our kitchen remodeling contractors can perform an array of home improvements in your kitchen to enhance the looks & functions of it. Our kitchen remodeling contractors can paint, add backsplashes, add new cabinetry, new counters, redo the layout of your kitchen, & more!
